Year 6 Trip to Kanchanaburi

Year 6 had an amazing time in Kanchanaburi.
We visited  the Thai-Burma Railway Museum, the Bridge over the River Kwai, Hellfire Pass Memorial and the War Cemetery in Kanchanburi.
The students also took part in lots of team-building activities and games around the camp fire in the evenings. They were incredibly well-behaved and we all had a great time.Well done Year 6!

It has been a busy half term... we have been learning all about different materials and their uses. The students have been doing lots of investigating and experimenting.

This half term we are studying World War Two.
If you have any books, memorabilia or anything at all which you think may be of interest please send it in.

Welcome to  Year  6!

We have had a few really busy weeks already - learning new topics, new routines, making new friends and celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Charter School!

I am very happy how all the students have settled in to Year 6 and are working very hard. To help them be more organised every student has a Student Diary which he or she should bring home every day. This contains information about homework (35 minutes every day), and includes due dates and any comments from me. Please ask your child to show you this diary and sign it at the end of each week to say you have seen it.
If you wish to communicate with me you can write comments in here... or send me an email at jedwards@charter.ac.th

Our first topic this term is about 'New Materials.' The students have been investigating how new materials can be made when something changes state, like water to ice. They have also been working with clay, making pots in their art lesson, which will help them understand the concept of irreversible changes.

Best regards

The chosen author for Year 6 is Jeremy Strong who has written many very funny books for children - we are going to read the 'The Hundred-Mile-an-Hour-Dog' series of books.

Please have a look at the website for some ideas for dressing up costumes on Friday 15th.

Learning about Shakespeare

Wednesday 6 March 2013

We have been learning all about the life and work of William Shakespeare. We read lots of his plays, watched some animated and film versions, read some versions which have been re-written into cartoons and narrative stories, did some acting and made our own box theatres and puppets which we performed to some of the younger students.
